Bridging the Gap 1.5 - Intermediate

Bridging the Gap: Level 1.5–Intermediate

We're Blending 2 classes!!

This class is for anyone who has taken a beginner pottery class and is ready for the next step—even if you’re a little nervous. Maybe you’ve made a few pieces and want to get better, or maybe you’ve taken a break and are looking to return to clay. This is a supportive, judgment-free space where you’ll build confidence, explore new techniques, and continue developing your style at your own pace.

We believe you are ready—so don’t let fear hold you back. Pottery is all about practice, play, and patience. Come as you are, and let’s keep growing together.

Prerequisite: Completion of a beginner class and basic comfort with wheel throwing

This class is designed for students who are ready to move beyond the basics but aren't quite ready to jump into a full Intermediate course. Whether you're looking to refresh your skills, build confidence, or just need a little more guided practice, this is the perfect next step.

In a supportive and relaxed environment, you'll continue developing your technique while being introduced to more complex forms and creative challenges. Expect a mix of instruction and independent work, all at a pace that meets you where you are.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Centering and pulling with more control
  • Trimming techniques for clean, finished forms
  • Learn how to make more refined and functional pieces
  • New forms like lidded jars, sets, or altered shapes
  • Basic surface decoration and glazing tips
  • Intro to handles, lids, and simple attachments
  • How to be comfortable with creative risks and “happy accidents”

This class is all about progress, not perfection. Come build your skills, stretch your creativity, and get ready for Intermediate—without the pressure.

Ideal for potters looking to hone their skills, deepen their practice, and explore more sophisticated work.

The class must have 6 people to run.

Be sure to wear old clothes or bring a apron and towel. Basic beginner pottery tools can be purchased here for $15. If you have any questions about the class, please email Delores at infodelorespottery@gmail.com

Students must be 18 years or older. Some exceptions can be made. Contact Delores with requests before registering your child.

We do not offer personal make up days since all of our classes are full.Typically instructors repeat lessons so if you miss one week you'll have the demo next time. We also offer open studio, access to the studio on the weekends and some weekday options for students to come in and practice.
