Beginner Wheel Throwing: Get Centered with Clay
Step up to the wheel and discover the joy of throwing clay in this hands-on beginner pottery class. Designed for those with little to no experience, this course will introduce you to the foundational techniques of wheel throwing in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
Through guided instruction, demonstrations, and plenty of practice, you’ll learn how to center clay, shape basic forms, and create functional pieces like bowls and cups—all while getting comfortable with the rhythm and flow of the wheel.

- Centering clay and forming cylinders and bowls
- Trimming and finishing techniques
- Basic handle making and attaching
- Studio etiquette and best practices
- Introduction to glazing and surface decoration

Format:
- 6 week session
- Weekly 2.5 hour classes
Includes:
- Demonstrations, individual instruction, and guided practice
- 25lbs of Clay
- 2 weeks of studio access after the 6 week class ends to finish all work
- Weekly open Studio Access outside of class time
Additional 25 lb bag of clay can be purchased for $45. Cost covers glazing and firing.

The class must have 6 people to run. An email will be sent out if the class does not reach its minimum.
Students must be 18 years or older. Some exceptions can be made. Contact us with requests before registering your child.
We do not offer personal make up days since all of our classes are full.Typically instructors repeat lessons so if you miss one week you'll have the demo next time. We also offer open studio, access to the studio on the weekends and some weekday options for students to come in and practice.
